Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Senior UAV Pilot/Instructor to join our team. In this role, you will play a critical part in both the operation and training. You will oversee ground and flight operations, ensuring smooth operations during both stateside training sessions and overseas missions. Your technical expertise and operational excellence will be key to mission success and the development of ongoing programs.
Key Responsibilities:
Flight Operations Planning: Work closely with customers to plan flight operations tailored to their requirements, ensuring all needs are met with precision and safety.
Safety Protocols: Perform thorough pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight safety checks to ensure that all missions are carried out with the utmost attention to safety.
Remote Piloting: Operate by following a predetermined flight plan or adjusting it to meet the dynamic needs of the mission.
Training Delivery: Provide comprehensive training programs for new UAV pilots, focusing on operational procedures and safety standards to ensure proficiency and compliance with regulations.
Overseas Operations Support: Support flight operations outside the continental United States (OCONUS) for extended periods, up to four months if needed.
Customer Demonstrations: Conduct flight demonstrations for customers at remote locations, showcasing the capabilities of the in real-world scenarios.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve any technical issues with equipment, maximizing readiness for each mission.
FAA Compliance: Ensure all operations are fully compliant with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and any other relevant industry standards.
Basic Requirements:
Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Unmanned Systems or a related field, along with 5+ years of relevant experience, or a total of 9 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
Flight Experience: At least 500 hours of flight experience as a Pilot in Command (PIC).
Technical Experience: Must have prior experience with Vigilant Spirit and Quattro FMS.
Security Clearance: Current DoD Secret level security clearance required, with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret level security clearance.
Medical Certification: Must be able to obtain an FAA Class II Medical Certificate.
Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel up to 100% of the time, both CONUS and OCONUS, as needed.
Weather and Lighting Conditions: Comfort with operating in various weather and lighting conditions.
Preferred Requirements:
Educational Background: Degree or specialized training in aviation, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
Research & Development: Experience in research and development is a plus.
Publications: Experience in writing publications is an advantage.
Certifications: Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate from the FAA and a Private Pilot License are desirable.
Operations: Experience in deployed Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) operations is highly valued.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to perform the physical demands of the role, with or without reasonable accommodations.
This includes tasks such as identifying wire cable color differences, lifting and moving equipment (e.g., ladders, tools, air tanks, test equipment), and working at heights or in physically challenging environments. Ability to lift objects up to 100 pounds is necessary.
