Our client, a private family in Chatsworth, is seeking an experienced Family Assistant to join their team.

Household & Family Assistant

Location: Chatsworth, onsite

Employment Type: Full-time

Compensation: $60,000 - $80,000 per year exempt

Benefits: Health insurance benefit stipend provided

About the Family & Role

This position involves a combination of household coordination, childcare support, travel planning, and general assistance to ensure a well-organized and efficient home environment. The family consists of a mother, grandparents a 10-year-old son, and their beloved rescue dog (pit-bull mix). The ideal candidate will be flexible, proactive, and comfortable balancing responsibilities across multiple family members. Some travel (one to two trips per year) to Honolulu is required to oversee household maintenance there.

Key Responsibilities

Household & Family Coordination

• Serve as the primary coordinator while also assisting other family members as needed
• Communicate daily for household tasks/activities
• Manage household vendors and maintenance (e.g., pest control, pool repairs, appliance servicing)
• Oversee home improvement projects, including vetting contractors for painting, landscaping, and solar installations
• Organize household errands (dry cleaning, groceries, package/mail drop-offs, car maintenance)
• Maintain common areas to ensure tidiness

Childcare & Family Support

• Supervise child's school pickup, after-school activities, dinner, and homework (two afternoons per week, 3-8 PM)
• Encourage child's independence in time management, chores, and homework responsibilities
• Coordinate summer camp options and research activities for family trips
• Facilitate playdates and oversee interactions with family
• Refill and pick up medication once per month

Travel & Event Planning

• Arrange flights, hotels, and transportation for family travel
• Keep track of passport renewals and Global Entry status
• Coordinate summer/holiday trips with extended family in Canada, ensuring schedules align
• Assist with guest logistics, including grocery shopping and transportation for visitors

Honolulu Home Maintenance (Travel Required 1-2 Times Per Year)

• Troubleshoot technology issues (Wi-Fi, streaming services)
• Supervise home repairs, appliance replacements, and pest control
• Manage vehicle servicing and general upkeep of the residence

Adult & Pet Assistance

• Provide occasional evening transportation for mother's social events (one night per week)
• Assist with tech-related tasks (online ordering, streaming services, basic IT)
• Handle prescription/medication pickups
• Support dog training and transportation to daycare
• Maintain inventory of pet supplies

Schedule & Flexibility

• In-person : Two afternoons per week (3-8 PM), one evening per week (5 PM-midnight), plus 3-5 hours per week for errands
• Remote : All other tasks that can be handled offsite
• Vacation: Flexible with reasonable requests with advance notice

Ideal Candidate Qualifications

• Experience working with children and multi-generational households
• Comfort with dogs and willingness to support obedience training
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Ability to swim (to supervise children in the pool)
• Reliable, adaptable, and proactive in assisting with a variety of responsibilities
