Company Sponsored Time: We are piloting a 4-day, 32-hour work week, and YWCA will provide this role 8 hours of Company Sponsored Time for you to use on Fridays to maintain work-life balance while maintaining pay at 40 hours a week.

Position Summary

The Chief Philanthropy Officer oversees a department of four (Volunteer Engagement Officer, Community Relations Officer, Donor Relations Officer, and Database Administrator) plus additional department vendors for grants and special events. With a focus on individual giving (major and planned) and community engagement, the philanthropy department leads the organization's focus on relationship building, awareness raising and engagement. YWCA's total private fundraising budget is $1,500,000 and growing, with a target of increasing the budget by $1,000,000 over the next five years. The Chief Philanthropy Officer will commit 50% of their time to managing a personal portfolio of donors and secure major annual gifts across all areas of giving, including special events, annual giving, planned giving, endowment, and capital campaign(s). The Clark County Community is an active participant in supporting YWCA. Our Chief Philanthropy Officer needs to connect with Clark County and understand the value of uplifting our participants and their successes.

Essential Duties

• Incorporate the YWCA's commitment to social justice by understanding how racism, sexism, classism and other oppressions intersect and are embedded in institutions. Seek opportunities for continued learning about racial, gender and class equity.
• Identify and develop authentic relationships with potential high-end donors using past donor data and engaging in donor research.
• Lead the Department of Philanthropy team to build, develop, and refine all aspects and components of fundraising and donor stewardship with a focus on moves management and major and mid-level giving.
• Provide information, tools, guidance, and support to the Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors to ensure the organization is maximizing its fundraising potential.
• Leverage both internal and external resources and relationships to support mission and core value aligned organizational growth and refinement.
• On a regular basis, utilize Blackbaud Raiser's Edge to input donor information as well as to review and utilize donor information previously inputted.
• Work collaboratively with other organizations with supporting missions to maintain and build on YWCA Clark County's strong community presence and reputation.
• Work with the Volunteer Engagement Officer to develop and execute an outreach plan that ensure a steady flow of volunteers to meet programmatic and event needs.
• Support the Community Relations Officer in creating and implementing an outreach plan that builds relationships with businesses and community groups and guides them through the moves management process to cultivate, solicit, and close gifts.
• Seek and act on feedback from the Department of Philanthropy team, direct supervisor, co-workers, and external individuals.
• In conjunction with Department of Philanthropy staff, assess current communications tools and materials to ensure best practices are utilized and best meet the needs of the organization on an as needed basis.
• In conjunction with the Department of Philanthropy staff, manage event and fundraising related collateral.
• Manage the planning and execution of all fundraising related events in conjunction with the Department of Philanthropy staff.
• Work with the Chief Executive Officer to create annual revenue goals, a department budget, and supporting development plan with actionable steps to achieve goals focused on donor retention and revenue growth.
• Work with the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Executive Officer to maintain, correct, and ask questions about the Department of Philanthropy budget and related fundraising successes, for which this position is responsible.
• Manage and submit all administrative tasks, including invoices, timesheets, and requests, in a timely and organized manner to ensure compliance and smooth operations.
• Provide effective supervision by scheduling and facilitating regular individual and team meetings, conducting performance evaluations, setting annual goals, and holding quarterly check-ins to monitor progress while offering consistent support and guidance.
• Hold staff accountable for achieving revenue goals by regularly reviewing performance metrics, providing constructive feedback, and implementing strategies to address challenges.
• Communicate staff specific challenges and successes to the Chief Executive Officer and Vice President, People and Culture on an as needed basis to receive guidance and resources to help resolve challenges and effectively celebrate successes.
• Attend and be mentally present during all required and scheduled YWCA Clark County meetings.
• On a daily basis, check and respond to voicemails, emails, and other correspondence in a timely and professional manner.
• Maintain confidentiality.

There is a strong social justice component to all positions within YWCA Clark County, requiring critical thinking through the lens of racism and intersections with poverty. Related experience: 5-7 years of progressive experience in philanthropic fundraising, preferably in a non-profit setting and 3-5 years' experience in developing effective strategic plans and accurate budgets.

Ability to earn: proven track record of setting and meeting progressively higher fundraising goals, securing four, five, and six-figure gifts, and utilizing the moves management process.

Ability to influence: build buzz, excitement, and drive attendance to critical fundraising events using strong and persuasive written and verbal communication, preferably for a non-profit organization

Ability to work strategically: handle multiple moving priorities with follow-through and demonstrate unwavering integrity and accountability

Ability to persevere: creativity when needed to find the right approach, ability to test and discover new strategies and techniques.

Strong project management skills: maintain a strategic focus while managing multiple projects, deadlines, goals, and needs.

Strong technological skills: effectively use various programs to track, communicate, and capitalize on past fundraising successes in a manner that minimizes event plateaus. Competence with Microsoft Office Suite, database management and CRM systems (preferably Blackbaud Raiser's Edge) essential for success.

Demonstrated supervisory experience: at least two years of experience managing a staff with unique responsibilities and varying communication and work style preferences. Preferred leadership styles include transformational, coaching, and visionary approaches that inspire and develop team members while fostering innovation and growth.
